Abstract
Objective: The present research examines the relationship between information literacy and library anxiety in graduate students of Kharazmi University.
Methodology: This is a survey research. Research populations include all graduate students of Kharazmi University, 500 students from among them were selected randomly as research samples; while, 402 students returned their questionnaires. Data were gathered through two questionnaires developed according to information literacy competency standard for higher education and Bostick’s library anxiety scale.
Findings: Findings are indicative of significant relationship between information literacy and library anxiety in both groups of men and women. Correlation of information literacy and library anxiety scores in women (P=0.046), in men (P=0.046) and in total was (P=0.009). Correlation of information literacy and library anxiety scores in master’s degree students (P=0.009), in Ph.D. students (P=0.668), and in total was (P=0.009).
Conclusion: Increase in information literacy in master’s degree students, results in decrease of library anxiety. In Ph.D. students, such relationship was not observed. Maximum level of anxiety (39.3%) relates to mild anxiety.
