Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the quality of archived information in the technical documentation information systems of knowledge-based companies located in Khuzestan Science and Technology Park, in order to identify the quality assessment criteria of documentation preparation and maintenance and to provide a model for information managers to discover the link between effective information production activities and technical documentation.

In this study, due to the coincidence of both qualitative and quantitative methods, simultaneous mixed method is considered for this research. In the qualitative part of the research, the analytical approach of histology is used and in the quantitative part the descriptive-survey method is used. In the quantitative part of the present study, two questionnaires were developed based on the study of the texts and the CISE model of Palmius (2007) as well as on the basis of Gitinejad's research (2018). The study population consisted of 44 research and development companies. 32 Documentation and 11 managers, whose documentary activity is done by a documented information system, participated in the survey to complete the questionnaire. In the qualitative part of the present study, 10 individuals were selected by purposeful sampling based on their expertise and interviews were conducted.. The findings of the present study showed that based on the single-group t-test, it can be argued that the quality of documentation preparation and maintenance in the technical documentation information systems in the statistical population with a mean higher than 3, is average and desirable. The average quality status of 3.468 was obtained. The results show that all four indices studied in the present study, including accessibility, quality, durability, and maintenance, were rated favorable with a score higher than criterion 3. The results of the present study showed that the components of sustainability component of maintenance status are more desirable than other indices. Also, the results of Pearson correlation test between the variables of the present study illustrate the hypothesis that the indices used are efficient and have meaningful relationships that increase or decrease of each component affects the other.
